Launching Ceremony of Mathematical Students Societies


The Department of Mathematics Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) marked a momentous occasion with the launch of the Mathematical Students Societies in a grand ceremony held on October 20, 2023. The event was presided over by the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli. Her distinguished presence added to the significance of the occasion. In her address, the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli highlighted the pivotal role of student societies in grooming and nurturing students. She appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Saima Akram and her team and encouraged students to become part of these societies for the best experiences. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram extended a welcome address, emphasizing the importance of a strong mathematical community within the university. She shared that the department received more than 200 registrations from within the Mathematics Department, conducting multiple interviews, selecting 25 of the best students and introducing them as members of three significant student societies, i.e., the Mathematics Youth Development Society (MYDS), the Mathematics Welfare Society (MWS), and the Mathematics Drama and Literacy Society (MDLS), is a slight glimpse of the visionary insight of Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Chairperson, Department of Mathematics, GCWUF). She expressed her deep interest in pushing the boundaries and giving confidence to her students sufficient for to excel in practical life. Later, a batch ceremony was held during which students were proudly bestowed with society batches by Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, signifying their commitment to the Mathematical Student Societies. The students then participated in an oath-taking ceremony, solemnly pledging to uphold their responsibilities to society and to always strive for excellence in Mathematics. This symbolic act reinforced the dedication of the students to the cause of promoting mathematical knowledge and collaboration. Dr. Madeeha Tahir, the Secretary of the Mathematics Students Societies, GCWUF, provided concluding remarks, expressing her appreciation for the students' enthusiasm and commitment. The launch of the Mathematical Student Societies at GCWUF marks a significant step towards promoting the passion for mathematics, fostering a sense of belonging among students and encouraging academic and personal growth. It is evident that this initiative will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mathematical education at the university.
